Well due to a lack of Internet at the Hotel the postings did not continue. But I will update this about our trip so you will still be able to read about it now.
Day 2
Today we woke up and went to Williamsburg. In Williams burg we walked through the town as if it were what it was back in the time it first bagan. We saw the capitol, the govener's palace,
the spot where Patrick Henery made his speech, the jail, the wig shop and last the court house where they made and passed the laws. We sat down and had a mock trial and we went to the gallows where they were punished. We had a fiddler player play us a song and give us an example of what it would be like to dance back in the day. After Williamsburg we went to eat and then we went to Jamestown where we ran into one of our very own class mates Cooper. His mom was with him and they were touring Jamestown as well. In Jamestown we had the opportunity to learn more about the Indians that lived at this time. We learned about the African Americans in this time and we learned about the people who settled the Jamestown colony. We walked on a model of a ship that they would have come over on. We saw the place where they stayed. We learned that out of 138 that took the trip only 35 survived the journey. They were only able to eat hard cracker cookies and to use the rest room they had a bowl and there was no privacy. Everyone had a job and thanks to the Indians they actually survived. They used tools carved out of wood and made their clothes from animal hide. Their houses had only what they needed to survive. They were made of sticks and animal skins. Every person had a job even three year olds. The fire inside the home had to be constantly going for the smoke to perserve the food. Their life expectancy was very young around 45 to 50. Only three percent of children survived to adulthood. We walked through their houses and their village. It was a very neat experience to see how they lived and the trials they had to over come. After this experience we went to eat and by bus we traveled back to Washington DC where we would finish out the rest of our trip.
